Are You Using These Toxic Laundry Products? // Laura’s Natural Life

Toss these toxic laundry products! I know it’s easy to assume that since we use laundry detergent in water, that it washes out. That is not the case. There are many chemicals in laundry detergents designed to linger in the clothing. These include petrochemicals, bleach, optical brighteners, fragrance and more. The same goes for fabric softener and dryer sheets. To learn more – just watch the video 🙂

Taylor Kennell says:

What would be the recipe for using baking soda and vinegar as a laundry detergent?

Stephanie Bishop says:

Any time anyone tells me their skin is irritated I tell them to toss their laundry detergents and fabric softeners. It makes such a HUGE difference!

MySharon says:

Agreed! Also the dryer sheets ruin the life of your dryer. They put a film over the screen where the link collects so the air cant funnel through which causes your dryer to take longer to dry, and also creates a film in the air vent and contributes to it clogging(Already had it happen to my mom) and the dryer repair man just had to clean her vent out and told her “Dont use dryer sheets”. I use the wool balls and buy local homemade laundry soap brands from Green Moms in my area that have their own business. 🙂 I hate that fake scent in laundry soaps, makes my head hurt and Im the same as you, I can smell it across the room.

Hannah Eleanor says:

Thanks so much for the product recommendations this has been something very much on my mind!

oneluv201 says:

Love the thought but not as easy when you have to use laundry mats.

Aviva Renée says:

Nothing is one of my top favorite scents, too! Hahaha

Lauren Henderson says:

Have you used CrystalWash? I was wondering if it was toxic and a good, more economical version of laundry detergent!

Laurie Ehrhardt says:

I have been using Vaska for years!!! I love it!!

Nigh Eve says:

Do you have any suggested alternatives to dryer balls? Our apartment complex has a strict noise policy and the dryer balls got me into trouble due to the thumping sounds they made.

Krystle H says:

I have and love the ECOS laundry detergent. I also know you can get a big bottle of it from Costco. 🙂

maryvangel says:

Great video!!

Nita's Niche says:

Thanks for the video! I haven’t used the laundry detergent I just bought, but I know an issue will be that I live in an apt with no washer/dryer of my own, so I use the community laundry room where everyone else uses their toxic detergents and fabric softeners. :-/ At least switching my own products will lessen the effect, I’m sure.

free bird says:

a good thing to know is if you go to cosco or have a friend or family member, they are selling and organic usda laundry detergent. it works great and gas no sent also super affordable 10 bucks for a huge bottle.

Elizabeth V says:

Great video! I know this is off topic, but I wanted to ask what brand of vitamin C do you take?

Lbeauwilliams says:

dryer balls no longer available at Target. Any suggestions for a good brand?

ATasteOfFresh says:

Great video Laura!! I remember when I was little I was always jealous of the way my best friends clothes smelled because her mom used Tide… now I cringe. haha!

Jamie R. says:

Great video! I’ve been using Nellie’s Washing soda, and wool dryer balls for 3 years now and we have been so happy with the switch. I used to use Tide because I thought it would be better for getting out kid stains. Our laundry actually gets cleaner and our towels never get that musty smell anymore either! I do use some safe oxygen bleach for bad stains and for our whites.

Emma Louise Green Beauty says:

Yes laundry products stink so much! I can smell them across the room too. Here in Australia I use Eco Store products from Woolworths.

Anna D'Angelo says:

Love this video. A quick question- I noticed that the ECOS Laundry Detergent ranks a “C” on EWG. However, some of the “A” ranked products have ingredients that rank B or lower. How did you decide which detergent to purchase? Thanks!

Tea S. says:

i love you! lets be friends

Rodney Klees says:

As an asthmatic I vote for you for president !

silverhranch says:

Okay people, adding acetic acid and sodium bicarbonate to the same wash is like having your A/C and heat on at the same time. It has a neutralizing reaction, hence there will be no affects to whatever you’re trying to accomplish with the laundry wash.

Carissa lynn says:

thank you! thank you! thank you! I wish I could share this on Facebook.

Nicolette Ilie says:

Great video Laura! ECOS has a lavender scent detergent, “lavender essential oil” listed in ingredients, is that safe?

Also is an ingredient listed “organic fragrance” safe as well? Thank you in advance

Sierra H says:

I have not been using dryer sheets at all. The dryer balls sound like they could be a good addition. I found some made in the USA that I want to order. Is there any problem with lint from the dryer balls getting on dark laundry?

Karsyn Bailee says:

What type of hand soap do you use?

CLAUDIA SIMPSON says:

Thanks for your video, I have been using cheap detergent from my local laundry mat .They give it for free when you wash at their business. I’ve noticed blisters and itching on my arms, chest, neck, belly and butt . ABOUT A WEEK LATER Hives all over my upper body. I believe it’s from the nasty chemical’s in the laundry soap. Thanks for information and saving the environment as well as your self. THIS MUST BE STOPPED WORLD WIDE.

Nik EeeKay says:

I use Molly’s suds right now…but will have to check out ecos!! Thanks for the information!!!
