So is the blue dye left on my clothes or rinsed into our treated drinking water?
How do I spot clean stains when using an high efficiency detergent for an high efficiency washing machine?
What about HE Detergents with Old fashioned Washing Machines?
Hi Melissa, I have a question for you. So a couple weeks ago we had to buy a new washer and of course we went with a HE. The sales lady, at a well-known furniture store, told us that you should actually only use 1 tablespoon of HE detergent for a normal size load, and 2 tablespoons for large loads. Her explanation was that the less soap you use, the less buildup you get in your machine. IS THIS TRUE? I tried it for a few loads and my clothes did not smell clean! Listening to you explain how the HE detergent works, her reasoning didn’t make sense. What do you think? Also, I’ve heard that vinegar can kill your machine over time. What’s up with that? Thanks for doing this series!
Hi Melissa. My husband and I are having a debate about our new LG front load washer. I noticed that before the clothes were even all the way wet it already put in the detergent. My husband said that is how it worked. So my question to you is that. Should the clothes be complete wet before the detergent is add ? PLEASE help us settle this debate. 🙂
Do you use cold or hot water is washer?
How much residue does tide leave?

i m working as laundry attendant in hoteling industry
Very interesting demonstration! I enjoyed watching this video as usual! 🙂
we once did an experiment with laundry detergents. tide scored the worst with more chemicals than any other brand and more skin reactions, allergies.
How do you get rid of the musty smell?!
Hi Melissa. Please indicate how much baking soda one should add to a full load (8kg). BTW, love your channel which I have recently discovered. Your tips are very helpful. Thanks so much. Regards. Renate
Lol i thought this was about Chad
I’m allergic to Tide D:
I would never buy an HE machine because they are all computer board based, which means a higher failure rate.
Do you possibly have another brand suggestion for HE detergent? My husband is allergic to Tide and I can’t use it as a result.
i want to know wich taype of questions i creat for supervesr for learing skills reply me must please
Can you use homemade laundry detergent in an HE machine?
Hiya Melissa can you please make your own laundry power would love to see you make it am a big fan thank youx
Can you use HE detergent on a regular washer? Or does it have to be an HE washer?
Does Tide have a free & clear option for those of us with allergy issues?
Yayy ! Love this video! But what was the other detergent !?! TELL US !!
My next question would be can u just go a little more in detail about the buttons on the washer. There are only 6 buttons on mine: whites, colors, brights, delecates, woolens and another i cant remember. But its hard translating that to the normal whites colors and darks. ESPECIALLY the darks, i usually pick colors bc idk what other one to pick and i dont want to test it and potentially ruin my clothes.
Thank you ❤
Do you prefer the HE pods or the liquid? I have pods. How many clothes should I wash with just one pod? I sometimes fill my washer with clothes and use two pods, but I’m not sure if that’s the right amount of detergent. Thanks!
Was product number 2 gain?
Wicked disappointed at how much information you’re hiding for the sake of selling tide products. Not helpful at all, I can’t afford Tide.
In the he washers only a little water comes in. it don’t seem to clean my white clothes have to wash them over in an other machine. why is that.
I am so sad that you elected to endorse a product. You just destroyed your credibility with me, and I used to actually seek out your videos!
Best explanation on what laundry soap does and what HD machines how they are meant to work thank you
May I ask a question that I want to ask who designed HE washer? I understand the washing water level is low for HE washer,
and the rinse water level is even lower. The question is, if the rinse water level is lower than the washing water level, how can the surface of the drum that was soaked by the washing water but not soaked by the rinse water be clean? I mean, if the top area of the drum was wet by the dirty water while washing and later it is higher than the rinse water level, the area remains dirty? I’m sure there must be a mechanism to avoid that. Do you know how it is designed?
1.Our Top Loading HG machine does not get all the clothes wet, especially using Normal or Active wear cycles. The cottons (like a teeshirt) have large dry areas when the cycle is done. I do not overfill the machine with clothes. I have to “pause”, hand push around dry clothes, and restart. Often I resort to Bulky cycle or Heavy Duty cycle which are not meant for everyday cotton wear. Plus the sheet cycle tangles the sheets or twists them with the little towels I may toss in. Which cycle for towels? It is not delineated on the machine so I try bulk. Do you have a HG machine recommendation? I am on my 2nd machine as the first failed after 2-3 years. This one already has been serviced after 2 years. My old machine from 1970s lasted 30 years with few problems.
2. To the laundry detergent companies: please make the liquid detergent caps have clearer measuring markings which match the directions on the bottle. I have called two companies to voice my puzzlement on how to measure when the directions do not match the cap’s design.
3. Thank you to you at Clean My Space for your help. You are very helpful.
My whites just don’t get as clean or as white as they do in my moms old fashion top loader. I’m embarrassed by them! I’ve even gone to her house to wash my own clothes using her washer with the same detergent and still they come out so much better! What am I doing wrong? I’ve tried using the oxy white boost but still dull whites 🙁 HELP! If my mom sees the state of my husbands white socks once more I’m in deep trouble!
So what about detergents that claim to be HE but can be used in all types of machines?
I just got my first Samsung HE top loader washing machine. How do I add powder oxiclean? The directions say that I need to add it to the water first before adding laundry but I am unable to do that. Also our normal laundry detergent is liquid so I don’t know what to do in regards to removing the tray for powder or leaving the tray for liquid for this situation.
What is the best way to thoroughly clean my HE washer? I have a top loading LG brand btw. Can I use borax in it? TIA
everyone I know that owns an HE machine regrets buying it. it’s not worth the savings to walk around with rancid smelling clothes not to mention time is money and you waste time trying to clean and care for the machine just get a normal washer
Very informative video, you always are, but it feels like a Tide ad. 🙁
This is just a ad for tide……
cleaning the seal. why whites don’t get true white in top loaders vs front loaders? What do you have front loader or top loader?
DONT BUY HE here is why.
1.They take longer to wash, in some cases over 2 hrs.
2. In most HE washers you will never EVER be able to select the amount of water to use, this will leave a bad odor.
3. They can not remove oil stains as well.
4. By selecting fast wash, the stupid washer will just drain the water without Spin Dry..this leaves the Softener, then the washer adds the bleach, yea you will have Softener and bleach together.
5. Load Sensing is just a waste of even more time that is not effective of fluffy stuff . Here is how it works. The washer weights the clothes, spins it then micro manages every drop of water is adds. all to make sure that the clothes inside sucks it in. Ones the washer “THINKS” all the clothes is wet is starts to wash.. This is by far the most stupid shit ever.. It takes for ever and in some cases the clothes never gets wet.. even on a front load washer the water never gets to the center of the clothes..
5. On “My Wash Settings” you will not be able to maximize the temperature or amount of water.
6. The soap companies figured these washer needs less detergent so they made “Low suds detergent” when in reality all you have to use is less detergent.. But hey that would have mean less sales for them.
If saving water is more important then time and clean clothes for you.. the HE washers are are for you.. And dont thing that a larger capacity washer will help..
Take my word for it, SHAKE OFF THE HYPE FOR HE WASHERS AND GO WITH A SPEED QUEEN.
I only use tide, the pods make my clothes so clean and actually makes the fabric feel softer
Is there a DYI for HE Laundry soap?
Hello Melissa. I love watching your videos for great tips and trick..that I use. I do have a question for laundry though. While cleaning out my detergent dispenser for my he machine over a year ago I lost the piece that allows you to choose liquid or powder detergent. So I have to use powder detergent. My question is have you tested any powder detergents and are they as effective cleaning/ rinsing?
I’m not completely convinced by your “science of suds” unless you can effectively incorporate the third and fourth ingredients… fabric and dirt. Soap molecules having less attraction to water seems to mean that water is going to have less of an effect on pulling that soap out of the clothes during the rinse.
I’m not among those that need to complain of longer wash times, but maybe you can explain how HE machines rinse just as effectively, and how those detergents break down and separate from fabric as effectively with less water and energy… sure maybe longer times.
